The most technically impressive slot database on our research roster publishes a per-title status derived from a rolling window: a session return of 47.20%, a variance of minus 48.31%, over 215 spins. We recorded that in our own schema notes because it is the single feature we most wanted to copy and the one thing we decided we must not.
Start with the sample. 215 spins on a high volatility title is not a measurement of anything. Our record for San Quentin xWays carries one published return configuration and a maximum win in the tens of thousands of times the stake, which means the feature that produces the number the window is trying to measure may not appear once in 215 spins.
So the figure is accurate and it is a fact about 215 spins. It is presented with the same visual authority as a theoretical return, which is a figure about several billion.
A slot has no memory. Each spin is drawn independently, so a run of poor results changes the next spin exactly as much as a run of good ones does, which is not at all.
That is the whole of the argument. The vocabulary carries the opposite claim: "hot slot", "loose slot", "due for a win", and the daily-percentage genre that publishes a number per title with no method, no sample size and no source. That genre is written largely for one market this site never targets, which is its own comment on who it is for.
